Forget the Cyclades and discover the most beautiful beaches on the island of Lesvos

Of course, Villa Port Olivier has its own private beach, which will allow you to relax at any time of the day or night.

But whether you like small, calm and isolated coves or large, lively and invigorating bays, Lesvos also offers you a multitude of beaches, with deckchairs and taverns or, on the contrary, still completely wild. Ten years after our discovery of this island, we still discover new ones with each stay!

Here, to guide you in your explorations, are our favorite beaches on the island. Namely, beach in Greek is "Skala" (you can therefore follow these road signs if you are looking for your own beach) and the facilities are very often free (or almost) since you just need to order a small bottle of water or a fresh coffee to enjoy the sun loungers and parasols all day long...

The most beautiful beaches on the island of Lesbos

Agios Ermogenis Beach

One of the closest to Villa Port Olivier... Located in a small bay at the end of a road which winds through a pine forest down to the sea, this small beach is one of the favorites of the locals who go there found particularly on weekends.

Blue-green waters, a small typically Greek chapel, a tavern: everything invites you to a moment of relaxation and total disconnection...

Facilities: deck chairs and parasols (free), shower Accessibility: easy by road, parking

Tarti Beach

Another protected beach in a bay surrounded by pine trees. Located in the south east of the island, this beach offers transparent, shallow water as well as a magnificent view of rocky outcrops.

With several taverns, this beach offers several atmospheres, lively or calmer, as well as several types of meals, from the most traditional to the simpler snack bar. If you prefer traditional Greek cuisine, we recommend the Sebastian Tavern, although the arrival at the parking lot is impressive! ...

Molyvos (also known as Mithymna) has many attractions: a small medieval town built on the hillside and topped by an ancient Venetian fortress, but also beautiful beaches lined with taverns and beach bars. It is a very important town on the island, both touristy and authentic: one of the liveliest on summer evenings with Eressos, Plomari and Mytilene.

The shallow waters are ideal for swimming, and this site is also one of the few on the island to offer various water activities such as water skiing, wakeboarding or paddle boarding.

A little away from Molyvos, you can also discover the charm of the hot baths and the beach of Eftalou: a decidedly more "roots" site than the thermal baths of the Gulf of Gera, but that's what makes it the charm for some...Or conversely opt for the vast sand and pebble beach of the village of Petra, also famous for its monastery perched on a rocky peak.

Facilities: deck chairs and parasols, showers, beach bars, water activities

Accessibility: easy by road, parking

Molyvos Beach

Birthplace of the poet Sappho, Skala Eressou has everything a model seaside resort: a beach mixing fine sand and pebbles, clear waters ideal for exploring, mask on the nose, and a multitude of taverns and beach bars which invite to party, especially in summer. And a sunset almost as good as the one that Villa Port Olivier offers you every evening!

If you are a fan of walks on dirt roads and more natural beaches (without equipment), you can enjoy the charm of the sandy beach of Chroussos, very close to Eressos

Facilities: deck chairs and parasols (potentially for a fee), shower Accessibility: easy by road, parking

Skala Eressos Beach

Melinda beach seduces with its size and its still rather wild appearance. Covered with fine pebbles and protected by wooded cliffs, it also has the particularity of being separated in two by an imposing rock which provides shade during the hottest hours of the day.

The waters are calm and still shallow. A few taverns overlook the beach and will allow you to taste squid, octopus and ouzo in an atmosphere of absolute relaxation.

Facilities: a few deck chairs and parasols, showers

Accessibility: easy by road

Melinda Beach

Stretching for almost 10km, Vatera is one of the largest beaches on Lesvos, combining clear waters, a gentle landscape and a vast expanse of sand and pebbles.

You will probably have no trouble finding a place on this beach, except perhaps in the middle of August because it is a place very popular with the Greeks themselves. A more organized part of the beach will offer you the pleasures of traditional taverns and bars right on the water.

Facilities: Sun loungers and parasols, showers, beach bars, café

Accessibility: easy by road

Vatera Beach

In the north-east of the island, this beach with slightly glowing sand and pebbles offers calm and clear waters. Bordered by pine trees, this beach leads to a small fishing port.

A little further by car, don't miss the village of Skala Sikaminéas, its port surrounded by taverns and its chapel that defies the sea.

Facilities: Sun loungers and parasols, snack bars, taverns

Accessibility: By road

Tsonia Beach

The village of Sigri is at the northwest end of the island: it is better to plan to sleep there if you want to appreciate all of its charm!

Its beach extends along a small bay guarded by an Ottoman-era fortress perched on a hill. It is shaded by the pine trees which protect it, its waters are clear and calm and its sand golden.

A little further north, Fanéroméni beach is a pebble beach which has retained its wild character and which therefore has no equipment.

Facilities: Some deck chairs and parasols, tavern

Accessibility: By road

Sigri Beach

Sometimes subject to the wind, Anaxos beach is a large, lively and family beach in the north of the island of Lesbos.

Equipped with numerous facilities and naturally shaded, the view is captivating, as on all the beaches on the island.

If you feel like it, you can admire the bay from a typically Greek windmill perched on the hill overlooking the beach.

Facilities: Sun loungers and parasols, bars and taverns, water sports (pedal boats, canoes, etc.)

Accessibility: Very easy, by road
