The Essentials Around the Villa

The Tavern "To Pirgi"

2 minutes on foot (via the sea) or 2 minutes by car (via the road), come and discover one of the best taverns on the island, frequented by the Greeks themselves: on weekends or on public holidays, the Greeks come with their families to enjoy the atmosphere and the traditional dishes...

On Saturday evenings in summer, it is advisable to book!

The Gulf Thermal Baths

5 minutes by car from Villa Port Olivier, the thermal baths will bring you an unparalleled moment of relaxation. You can choose to relax in an infinity pool or in a jacuzzi on the terrace. Or let yourself be seduced by the traditional healing water baths installed under old domes. The healing water in which you will recharge your batteries begins its journey at a depth of 2,500 meters, in the bowels of the earth and gushes out at a temperature of 39.5o C. During its long journey, it crosses different rocks that enrich it in valuable trace elements.

Mytilène

The capital of the island is only 12 minutes by car from Villa Port Olivier. Built amphitheatrically on seven hills, Mytilene is an island metropolis with a very rich cultural and commercial life.

The port as well as the shopping street "Ermou" are the main meeting place for all the lesbiotes who find themselves in the cafes, taverns or various shops.

After this first contact with the city, you may want to visit the imposing Saint Theraponte church which dominates the port of Mytilene or the old Byzantine castro.

The Moria Aqueduct

This ancient Roman aqueduct, built during Hadrian's reign, carried water from the southern mountains of the island to the capital, Mytilene.

Built of local gray marble, it started from the surroundings of the current city of Agiasos.

It is not necessarily easy to find but the inhabitants of the village of Moria will happily point it out to you: and the visit is worth the detour because it is quite imposing and its last arches are rather well preserved.

Towards the North East of the island of Lesbos

Molyvos and Petra

Molyvos (also known as Mithymna) has many attractions: a small medieval town built on the hillside and topped by an ancient Venetian fortress, but also beautiful beaches lined with taverns and beach bars. It is a very important town on the island, both touristy and authentic: one of the liveliest on summer evenings with Eressos, Plomari and Mytilene.

A very pretty walk consists, after a swim in the sea, of climbing the small shaded streets of the village to the fortress in order to admire the sunset over the open sea. Along the way, you can take numerous breaks in small shops selling local products and designers.

A little away from Molyvos, you can also discover the charm of the village of Petra, famous for its monastery (open to visitors) perched on a rocky peak.

Moni Limenos Monastery

Visiting the Limonos Monastery will take you back in time

A bit like in the Middle Ages, the monastery brings together a main building and several small chapels and buildings with typically Byzantine roofs. The magnificent main chapel is covered in brightly colored frescoes.

Finally, the monastery is home to several peacocks who will guide your steps in discovering the many wonders of this place.
